Preparing for the Bar

Miami Law Bar Readiness

Every year, Miami Law’s Academic Achievement Program (AAP) organizes seminars and workshops for students. In the fall is a Pass the Bar Seminar focusing on critical essay skills and practical multiple choice strategies. The AAP also hosts a week of workshops and panels on planning for the bar – Bar Week. Topics in the past have included:

  • Bar Orientation for 1Ls
  • Crash Course in Florida Family Law
  • Financial Planning for the Bar Exam
  • Conquering the Multistate Bar Exam Workshop: Critical Skills and a Refresher on Evidence
  • Bar Exam Logistics
  • Mastering the Essay Portion of the Florida Bar Exam
  • Character and Fitness Panel: How to Handle Applications and Hearings

For details on the above, contact Steven A. Maxwell, Academic Achievement Program Director, at smaxwell@law.miami.edu.

Bar Review Courses

It is imperative that students take a commercial bar review course in order to properly prepare for successful completion of the Bar Exam. This includes not merely signing up for the course, but diligently attending and preparing for the daily classes and doing the recommended practice questions and exams. The School of Law does not recommend any particular commercial bar review, but those possibilities are readily available for all test-takers, and individual questions on this matter may be addressed to smaxwell@law.miami.edu.
