Compact (Short) Course Registration

Intensive compact, short course offerings enable students to take a course in a particular area of law in an intensive format. Additionally, these compact course offerings allow the law school to bring some of the best and brightest professors and practitioners to Miami Law.

Students may register for a compact course during the regular registration period or up until the first day of the course, as long as it has not reached its enrollment capacity.

Because of the intensive nature of compact courses:

Compact (Short) Courses (1-2 weeks in length)

  • Students who miss the first-class meeting are not permitted to enroll.
  • Students may drop the course by the second-class session without penalty.
  • If dropped after the second session, the course will appear on the transcript with a grade of “W” (Withdrawn). The “W” indicates attendance but has no impact on GPA.

Compact (Short) Courses (Exceeding 2 weeks)

  • Students may drop the course by the second week without penalty.
  • If dropped after the second week, the course will appear on the transcript with a grade of “W” (Withdrawn). The “W” indicates attendance but has no impact on GPA.
