Here’s a checklist of questions to consider prior to attending an exam review with your professor. These questions are designed to help the student understand their performance and improve for future exams:

General Performance

  • Substantive Knowledge

    • Did I accurately state the relevant legal rules?
    • Were there any rules I misstated, omitted, or misapplied?

  • Issue Spotting

    • Did I identify all the key issues on the exam?
    • Were there any issues I missed or included unnecessarily?

  • Analysis

    • Was my analysis thorough and logical?
    • Did I effectively apply the rules to the facts?
    • Did I make any leaps in reasoning or overlook important counterarguments?

  • Use of Facts

    • Did I use specific facts effectively to support my analysis?
    • Were there facts I ignored or overemphasized?

  • Conclusion

    • Did I answer the call of the question?
    • Were my conclusions reasonable and supported by my analysis?
    • Did I hedge when appropriate, or was I too definitive?
