The Academic Achievement Program (AAP) provides comprehensive support to students in the development of skills needed for success in law school. AAP empowers law students to achieve academic and professional excellence.
The Dean's Fellows Program
The Dean’s Fellows Program, supervised by the Academic Achievement Program (AAP), is a skills-based academic success initiative that supports first-year law students, upper-level students, and LL.M. students in developing the strategies and skills necessary to succeed in law school.
Dean’s Fellows are outstanding upper-level students who work closely with AAP and faculty to facilitate workshops and office hours to help students strengthen essential law school skills. The program complements classroom instruction by encouraging independent learning and fostering a collaborative academic environment.
The Dean’s Fellows Program also includes Writing Fellows, who collaborate with AAP, the Library, and other departments to support and guide 2Ls and 3Ls in navigating the upper-level writing requirement.
Academic Success Workshops
The professional staff provides a variety of academic workshops throughout the academic year. These include 1L Workshops on exam preparation, test simulation, self- assessment, and Bar Exam Diagnostics (in the Spring). This academic year the team will also be launching a new series of Workshops for 2Ls and 3Ls focused on: plotting a path to the profession, managing stress, tackling large writing assignments like research papers, and developing multiple choice skills for the MPRE and beyond.
Academic Advising
The Academic Achievement Program (AAP) provides academic and course selection advising to all JD students throughout the entire course of their degree. Starting in Fall 2026, students do not have an assigned advisor; rather, students can meet with anyone on the team. First-year students will learn much more about this as registration information is provided later in the fall semester.
Additional Resources & Support
AAP is a resource to all students throughout their legal education. However, through collaborations with faculty and other departments, as well as through self-identification, the office works with students on individual needs for success in and out of the classroom.
